About Us

Re-establishing the Masjid at the Heart of the Community

Masjid-e-Irfan is a religious establishment in the North West of England, increasing understanding about Islam and its message of peace for all people.

The 21st century brings with it new and unprecedented challenges for the global Muslim community. At a time when misunderstanding and fear of Islam is endemic within Western societies, it is more important than ever that we reclaim and bring back our beautiful faith and share widely as possible and guidance contained in its teachings.

The masjids are well placed to act as conduits through which Muslims can play an integral role in the advancement of community life, yet most are woefully inadequate in realising the full potential and calling of the Masjid, especially in these troubled times.

Masjid-e-Irfan intends to put the Masjid firmly back where it belongs – at the heart of the community. It is a vital project which aims to build bridges and advance the cause of Islam and humanity in general.

The cost of the project is expected to exceed 1 million pounds, but YOU can help make this noble cause possible.

History & Service Provision

With the help and mercy of Allah, we completed the purchase of a building on Eldon Road in Blackburn, Lancashire (Masjid-e-Irfan) in 1993. Prior to being a Masjid, this building was utilised as a local pub. Alhamdulillah, it is now the local Masjid. Ever since the purchase it has been in service of the local community; from 5 daily salaats to providing the local Muslim children with daily Islamic education and performing Nikah according to Sunnah. Furthermore, the Masjid regularly broadcasts lectures and is actively involved in charity work. Masjid-e-Irfan offers public worship facilities for the obligatory prayers which are performed 5 times daily, and the Jummah, Eid and Tarawee prayers.

The Masjid also plays a key role in the development of spirituality and high moral standards in the community, which are achieved through a wide range of activities including classes, educational lectures, study circles, seminars and events.

We will also be dedicated to providing dawah and information to the wider community about the Islamic faith. Our doors will be open to all members of the community.

Our Mission

Our mission is not just about a building consisting of bricks and mortar, it is a vision based on the firm belief that faith can bring hope in our lives, and an ethos that recognises the energy and strength that can be harnessed through collaboration across diverse communities.

Masjid-e-Irfan will be established, in accordance with the Holy Qur’an and the authentic Hadith and Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam).

Our aim is to recapture the essence of what a true Masjid should be – as well as being the hub for community life in the area, it will be a spiritual haven for all people, consecrated to the worship of the one God, and dedicated to teaching Muslims to live out their faith in accordance with His wishes, and those of His trusted servant and Messenger.
